Project Overview
The project was a Fire Alarm Retrofit (per OBC 2012 CAN\ULC S524-201) in a 4-storey residential building. The Ottawa Community Housing Corporation Project Manager was in charge of managing the project. Our services included meeting with the Client and AHJ, preparing design drawings and specifications for the tender and permit process, tender and construction management, site visits, final inspection and close-out documents. A new fire-rated room and sprinkler system alteration were necessary and designed accordingly to complete the fire alarm system retrofit project in accordance with the Ontario Building Code and NFPA 13.
Our impact on the project
LRI’s Ottawa branch worked diligently with Ottawa Community Housing Corporation (OCH) on the 1126 Rockingham project, overcoming many challenges along the way. Nevertheless, we ensured that budgets and schedules remained on track to avoid compromising timelines and to fulfill OCH’s vision and impact on the community. Ottawa Community Housing (OCH) is the largest social housing provider in Ottawa, offering safe and affordable housing to a diverse population. LRI was offered the opportunity to provide Fire and Life Safety services for several OCH properties.
