As Director of Engineering at LRI, Steve boasts an impressive career spanning over 17 years in Building code application. He is a graduate of the University of Waterloo, holding an Honours Bachelor of Applied Science and a Master of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering. Steve’s professional affiliations include memberships in Professional Engineers Ontario, the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of New Brunswick, Manitoba, Alberta, and Saskatchewan, as well as the Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE). He actively engages with the engineering and design community through lectures and public speaking events, presenting at prestigious institutions such as the University of Waterloo and the Toronto Society of Architects. Steve also contributes to code development as part of a task group for assembly seating with the National Building Code (NBC).

With a deep understanding of fire dynamics and smoke movement analysis, Steven is instrumental in building condition assessment and building code commission hearings. His proficiency extends to computational fire models, enabling him to contribute effectively to highly complex projects. Steven’s considerable project experience routinely places him at the forefront of challenging endeavours, where he excels in developing alternative solutions to address intricate design challenges.
