Cathy is an engineering veteran with nearly 30 years of experience, 20 of which were dedicated to providing fire protection engineering and code consulting services at LRI. As a ULC-approved CAN/ULC-S1001 Integrated Systems Coordinator and a CFAA-licensed Fire Alarm Technician, she brings a wealth of knowledge to numerous fire alarm and fire protection projects. Cathy has received extensive education and training in various fields, completing the AODA Customer Service Training program, the PMP program from The University of Toronto, and the Fire Alarm Technician and Fire Sprinkler System Design programs. She has also earned a diploma in Computer Programming from Seneca College and a B. Eng. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Donghua University in China. She actively contributes her time to fire protection associations, serving as a board member for the Executive Committee of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers Southern Ontario Chapter (SFPE-SOC). She also holds memberships in key industry associations, such as SFPE International, the Canadian Fire Alarm Association (CFAA), the Canadian Fire Safety Association (CFSA), and the Canadian Automatic Sprinkler Association (CASA).

As a senior associate in the Systems Engineering group, Cathy assumes the crucial role of project manager, working on a diverse array of intricate projects that include retrofitting and installing large, networked fire alarm systems, maglock systems, sprinkler systems and various fire protection systems. With her expertise spanning the entire project lifecycle – system audit, preliminary design, construction & permit design, manufacturer & contractor tender, construction site management to engineer acceptance, and final commissioning testing phases – Cathy is well-equipped to handle any challenge that comes her way. Her specializations also include meticulous assessment and testing of building smoke control/management systems (SMS), along with planning and implementing all fire and life safety systems integration testing to ensure compliance with building codes, fire codes and ULC-S1001 standards. Cathy also provides building and fire code applications consulting and plans examination, making her a valuable asset to any project team.
