Experience Profile: Winnipeg J. A. Richardson International Airport (YWG)

LRI assisted the Winnipeg Airports Authority in the development and construction of new facilities, critical to the continued growth at YWG.

The project involved review of airport passenger terminal building (PTB) and parking garage design concepts, construction documents and site construction, for general compliance with National and Provincial Building Codes and NFPA 415. Due to building complexity, several design concepts required review and acceptance on an equivalency basis to Code requirements.

LRI provided Building Code peer review services for the Winnipeg Airports Authority (WAA). Services included review of design concepts, construction documents, and site construction for general compliance with the National and Manitoba Building Codes.

LRI also witnessed operational testing of fire protection systems for final acceptance and reviewed proposed system structures and sequencing. LRI was responsible for concept and drawing reviews, site inspection, and liaison with WAA project managers on matters of fire protection and life safety.

The PTB was opened to the public in October 2011. Subsequent to its opening, LRI provided Building Code and systems consulting services for WAA for follow-on projects up to 2015.
